Welcome to koorby's music page!

Welcome to my little corner where I keep my music - my other hobby. I've just simplified things here for ease of loading and maintenance. Scroll down to see a blog about me and my music gear, plus links to all my music MP3 files at the bottom of the page.

You can email or MSN me at koorby@hotmail.com

About me

I began making electronic music back in 1981 with my trusty old Roland SH-101 (for the uninitiated that's a vintage analog monophonic synthesizer) and got into using MIDI instruments with computers in 1988. In 2004 after a long break from music, I re-discovered electronic music and the wonderful world of virtual instruments. Now all the cables, wires, mixers, keyboards and other old MIDI gear that used to fill a spare bedroom - neatly fit inside software on my laptop and external hard drive.

I mainly just make music for self enjoyment and as a way to unwind and relax. Of course, I'd love to make music for TV or film, and I've had some producers contact me regarding using my tunes in various projects. One day it would be cool to do it as a real job, but for now I'll dream the dream with no delusions of grandeur.

My wife and teenage kids tolerate my VEH (Very Expensive Hobby) and occasionally even listen to my music. We live in a rural township outside of Melbourne, Australia.

Influences: Whew!, too many to list here, but let's start with: Howard Shore, Phil Collins, Toto, Joe Satriani, David Foster, John Williams, Hans Zimmer, Elton John, Michael W. Smith, The Corrs, Enya, Jean Michael Jarre, Queen, Supertramp, Tommy Emanual, Ronan Hardiman, Secret Garden, Yanni, Dido, U2, Steely Dan, Secret Garden, Keane, Radiohead, Muse, Coldplay, Sarah McLachlan, Silverchair, Live, Delirious, free music from Northern Sounds and kvraudio.com and of course the stuff my kids listen to, and lots more.
